About Us
This is a brand new community art website affiliated with the University of Leeds Art Society. If you want to be part of it, please send us a quick submission using the form linked. Anyone with a Uni of Leeds email can be featured.
You are also welcome to send us poetry or flash fiction, we're a safe space to share ideas and creative thoughts and basically anything else. Enquire about video entries, we'll see what we can do.
We are an AI free space, something all too scarce in today's world. If you try to submit anything generated, we can tell, and we just won't put it up. Trust me, I'm an engineer.
The WhatsApp community is a place to meet people online, take part in art challenges with others, ask questions, and hopefully help increase the community feeling of the society. If you have any better ideas for an online social space, please let us know.
It should update weekly, I have yet to decide on an exact schedule.
ArtSoc Events
We run two life drawing sessions and an art workshop weekly, alongside socials. Tickets can
be found on our engage page (link in footer). No refunds (because engage is wonderful like that),
although you can exchange or sell tickets on the group chat.
After the summer, we are planning on running regular doodle and chat coffee mornings, which will be a
hopefully unticketed space held in a cafe to meet people, bring your own art, doodle with our materials,
or do some work. After these there will be the potential to go and visit art events around the city
together.
What's up now
Summer Events
We're running weekly informal events on the groupchat over the summer for people staying in Leeds, mostly run over the WhatsApp, so join that if you want to know what's going on an throw in some ideas. These are likely to include picnics and art walks and sketchbook sessions outdoors exploring the city, as well as gallery and museum visits.
We're also planning an outdoor exhibition at some point in the summer so if you're interested in getting involved please don't hesitate to get in touch
ArtSoc Summer Drawing Challenge
See if you can keep up a weekly drawing for the whole summer - post your drawings on the chat so we can keep each other on track. You don't have to use the prompts list, but can if it helps. If you complete the challenge, we'll give you free entry to two events of your choice. The aim of this is to help each other build up a drawing habit over the summer and maybe make some art friends in the process

Ways to get involved with making this site better
There are a couple of things that would be fun to add to this site that I just don't have the time for, such as a list of local art events and spaces, especially for people newly arrived in Leeds. If you want to help with that, or have ideas for anything else you'd like to see, please drop a message.
